Since 2011, our doctors and staff have participated in the annual American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk that is held at Pringles Park in Jackson, TN. These walks are the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting communities with a shared determination to help free the world from the pain and suffering of breast cancer. Walk participants raise critical funds that enable the American Cancer Society to fund innovative research, provide free information and support to anyone touched by breast cancer, and help people reduce their breast cancer risk or find it early when it’s most treatable.
This year, our Jackson office held weekly bake sales during the month of October. Each department participated and brought baked treats to sell to help raise money towards this cause. Through our bake sales, we were able to raise $1,327.00. Our doctors chose to match our efforts, which led to a total donation of $2,654.00 to the American Cancer Society! This ranked us as the second highest fundraising team that participated in the 2016 Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk! The Jackson office also had t-shirts made to show our support for breast cancer awareness, and these were worn each Friday of October.
Over 2,000 participants walked in Jackson’s fifth annual Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk. We had nine employees and a few family members participate in the walk on Saturday, October 22, 2016. During the 5 years that the American Cancer Society has hosted this event in Jackson, over $600,000 been raised to support breast cancer research.
We are proud to support this cause as it near and dear to our hearts. We have staff members who have fought and survived this disease and others who have been affected by it through family or friends. We challenge ourselves each year to raise more money to donate to help further breast cancer research.
