David M. Orwig attended the University of Memphis, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in 1988. He then attended Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, where he graduated, cum laude, in May 1993. During his training as a student, Dr. Orwig completed an externship at Southern Eye Associates in Memphis, Tennessee, where he received in-depth exposure and co-management training for medical and surgical procedures, including LASIK, cataract and glaucoma surgeries, and cosmetic eye procedures.
In July 2004, Dr. Orwig joined the Eye Care Clinic of West Tennessee, PC, working at the Ripley office. When the practice merged in 2005 to form the Eye Care Group, PLLC, Dr. Orwig continued in the Ripley office, and after Dr. Phil Agee’s retirement in 2014 has seen patients in the Humboldt office. Dr. Orwig has extensive training and background in diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, including diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, and dry eye.
In Dr. Orwig’s spare time, he enjoys outdoor activities, including hiking and camping with his family in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, reading books about the Civil War & WWII, and watching his children play basketball and baseball. He and his wife, Chris, have two children, Abbey and Ethan.
